11-Month Update

These days Avery is busy, busy, busy. Busy crawling around like crazy, climbing right over top of anything in her way. Busy pulling up everywhere, busy getting into everything. Busy playing with anything that makes noise. Busy banging together things that aren't supposed to make noise. Busy getting ear infections. On Mother's Day.

She's still loves to eat, and she likes just about everything. She also has quite a sense of humor: She is easily amused and frequently gets the giggles. She still only has the two bottom teeth, but we keep thinking the tops are about to poke through. She finally said "mama" (bout time!). She's very social, and she charms people of all ages wherever we go with a smile and a backwards wave...

"Don't you come near me with that squash!"

"Why do you think Mommy only lets me eat avocado on bath night?"

Most kids get attached to a soft blankie or stuffed animal. Not Avery! She prefers to take a brush to bed with her. A hard, plastic brush. Here she is using it to wake us up one morning.

She has also taken to sleeping with her butt up in the air, which is rather amusing.

"Where did that block go? I know it's under there somewhere!"

I love my new activity table. It makes lots of noise!

First she mastered waving, then she learned to clap. Here she is clapping for a certain green, tree-like vegetable. (Sorry, Aunt Mona...)

She also loves to dance. Before she gets in the bathtub, she stands on the sink and does the "naked baby dance" in the bathroom mirror. In an effort to keep this PG, here's a clip of her dancing with all her clothes on.

She is clapping for broccoli??? Seriously??? What have you done?! Are you trying to send Aunt Mona into an early grave? Sheesh. You are lucky she is so dang cute, otherwise my head might explode...

P.S. Sleeping with her butt in the air = total cuteness

I have been thinking her personality seems to be developing a lot like her Aunt Mona's, but CLAPPING FOR BROCCOLI?? Not so much!! Given the speed with which she eats it and given only 2 bottom teeth, what must the broccoli look like when it arrives at the other end??? Can it be recycled? This gives new meaning to "going green."

The broccoli is actually nondiscernable on the other end. Peas and corn, however? Not so much.
