Seven-Month Update

The theme of this 7-month update is feet. Toes, feet, legs -- suddenly Avery is obsessed with her lower appendages. When she first discovered her feet, she was very concerned about them and would talk to them in a stern tone while wearing her worried face. Now she has apparently made friends with them, perhaps having realized that they go with her wherever she goes. They are a source of endless entertainment: grabbing her feet, eating her toes, kicking things (hard!), pulling off her socks (and chewing on them), hiking up her pants. Sometimes while laying on her back she grabs the backs of her thighs and pulls her legs up so her feet are by her ears…exactly the way they show you in those awful labor and delivery videos. This is more than a little disturbing but somehow hilarious to see a baby in position to deliver her own baby. Anyway… here’s the 7-month snapshot.
  • She weighs 16.5 pounds, still below the median but growing at a steady rate.

  • She sits on her own. In fact, she gets annoyed it you try to lean her back against something.

  • She STILL hasn’t rolled from back to front. I think she’s just tormenting me.

  • She enjoys sweet potatoes, carrots and butternut squash. She tolerates green beans. (Clearly she hasn’t had Aunt Monica’s green beans yet.) She hates peas. I even tried mixing the peas with carrots…she somehow swallowed the carrots and spit back out any trace of green. Clearly she has an advanced palate and a talented tongue. Next we’re moving on to fruit.

  • Her latest game is grabbing noses. Grandpa is in big trouble when he comes to visit.

  • Peekaboo is another fun new game that causes endless giggles.

  • She gives little hugs and kisses, putting a hand on each side of your face and sliming you with slobber. As messy as it is, it’s very cute.
