Turning SIX!

Avery was so excited when they added an extra day of school to make up for our snow days, because it meant that the last day of school was on her birthday. And Mason and Mommy got to come to school and bring treats!

A new American Girl doll (and all her stuff) came to live with us on Avery's birthday. Avery named her Jewel and reports that Ava loves having a sister.

Opening more presents!

The next day was the gymnastics birthday party: 11 kindergarten graduates and one little brother.

The birthday girl leading her friends through the course.

Monkey man on the bars.

Balance beam action.
This was a fun part of the course that got lots of shrieks -- they got to whiz down this ramp on a little scooter.

Mason, however, squeezed his eyes shut tight. He did have a big smile when he got to the bottom though.

Vaulting into the pit!

Wahoo!

Playing in the pit was everybody's favorite part. (Yes, that is Mason upside down.)

They wore themselves out! Must be time for cupcakes.

Singing to the birthday girl.

Avery's choice for birthday dinner: the Japanese hibachi place, of course.

Mason loves the fire as long as Daddy is nearby to cover his eyes.

Wrapping up the festivities by ringing the birthday gong.
