Miscellaneous Cuteness

Grandma gave Avery a Glowworm, which is this little creature that has a human-looking plastic face. When you push a button on its chest, the face lights up and it plays music. When it's not playing, Avery likes to chew on its ears or huck it across the room. But when I push the button, she gives it hugs and kisses. It's so darn cute, the picture doesn't do it justice.

Another favorite toy (also given by Grandma...there's a pattern here!) is this plastic shape sorter thing. She has quite an arm and throws the shapes clear across the room. I was amused to see that I captured shapes in mid-air in a few pics. It also makes a good amount of noise when she bangs it, which she loves.

Our favorite thing to do these days is going out to breakfast on the weekends. We have discovered that since we're up early anyway, we can go to places that have long waits in peak time and we get right in. Incidentally, all the other parents in San Diego are on to this trick also, as places are packed with kids during the early shift. Anyway, Avery is generally pretty happy in the mornings, and she eats her breakfast with us and charms the pants off the waiters, and it's a fun little outing.

Her Cheerio-eating skills have come a long way, and she's now feeding herself chunks of banana or avocado as well. She doesn't have any teeth yet, but she diligently gums whatever she gets into her mouth. In fact, she loves Cheerios so much, she has developed a little dance to celebrate when she eats them.

The Cheerio Dance is awesome. FYI, the Safety Dance plays in my head when I watch her do it. And the Glow Worm kisses are adorable. Finally- Grandma must be trying to make up for the fact that I always wanted one and never got one. 30 years later I still haven't fully recovered from this disappointment, as you can see. Perhaps Avery will let me borrow hers when I come visit.
