Six-Month Stats

So I'm a little late with this since Avery turned six months almost two weeks ago. I think my former ultraproductive self is gone forever. Sigh. Anyway, here's a snapshot of Avery's skeeeells:

  • She's still a little squirt. She weighs 15 pounds (30th percentile) and is 25 inches long (25th percentile).

  • She evidently has a giant brain. Her head is 17 inches around, which is the 70th percentile! And yes, I thank god every single day that she waited until AFTER she was born to grow this giant noggin.

  • Still no sign of any teeth. From my perspective, this is a good thing.

  • She is sitting up on her own. She still tips over occasionally, but now it seems like that's deliberate.

  • She still hasn't rolled from her back to her front. She does have a work-around, though. If she's laying on her back and she wants to see what's behind her, she just arches her back so the top of her head is on the floor and she looks behind her upside down. Upside down things crack her up, by the way. Especially upside down Mommy.

  • She has discovered her feet. She's still working on understanding them, though. She gets a very worried look when she finds them, and she talks to them in a stern tone. There's currently a battle royale to see who's in charge: fingers or piggies. I've been trying to get this bout on video.

  • She has discovered the cats. She gets annoyed when they don't respond to her friendly banter, and she has started to try to "pet" them. They are less than thrilled about this development.

  • She says "dada." Actually, it's more like "dadadadadadada." She says it to Chris. And to me. And to her rattle. And to Brutus the Bunny. But the point is, she says it.
