Holiday Fun

This year, Mommy got a little crafty and made an advent calendar. Instead of things to eat, inside each envelope is a card with something fun for us to do that day. The kiddos love to look at the card each morning when we first get up to see what the day will hold. Here are some of the things we've done so far.

Here's the advent calendar. It turned out to be a little more work than I anticipated, but it's reusable, so I won't have to do it again. Like ever.

Decorating the Christmas tree. I made a cardboard tree for them to decorate with stickers while Mommy and Daddy hung the breakable stuff on the real tree. Great idea (thank you, Pinterest), and it actually worked... for about five minutes.

Making sand angels on the beach! (Yes, it really was warm enough to wear swimsuits in December. Avery even got in the water, but that may have crossed the line into crazy...)

Glowstick bath! This was so easy, and they LOVED it. Every bath night since, Mason has requested a "glow bath." The unfortunate thing is that glowsticks are apparently seasonal (who knew?) and won't be in stores again until the spring. Oops.

Making gingerbread people... and then pretending that they were the gingerbread people.

Hot chocolate with candy canes. Yummy!

Riding the train at a nearby shopping center. They chose to ride in the caboose. And Mason kept shouting "All aboard!" loud enough for the entire mall to hear. Hilarious.

Hanging up the paper snowflakes that we made. (Don't eat the yellow one.)

She is painting Mason's foot so he can put his footprint on the Christmas plate we were making.

If you have Michael's stores out there, check for glow sticks. The stores here in CA carry glow sticks year round for just $1.50 a pop. :)
