In early August, we packed up and headed north for what is becoming our annual summer road trip. We were bound for Aunt Liz's but took the road via Atlanta this time, and stopped there to explore for a day. The kids had lots of new experiences, lots of visiting with family, and lots of fun. Plus we got to celebrate Mommy's birthday with the entire family. It took us a good week to unwind once we finally got home.
| We stayed at a B&B in Atlanta that had a little menagerie. Mason loved the turkeys until they all gobbled in unison, and then he ran screaming. |
| In an unintended animal theme, we visited the Atlanta Zoo, where we made friends with the giraffes. |
| We also made friends with the gorilla statues. (The real ones were a little more standoffish.) |
| Showing the gorilla some love. |
| Avery groomed the goats in the petting zoo...to make them more fancy. |
| Mason was not sure about that carousel bear. |
| We also explored Centennial Park and the Olympic fountain. It was all I could do to keep Avery from stripping completely naked. |
| "If I'm going in, you're coming in with me!" Somehow Daddy managed not to get soaked. |
| Once we get to Liz and Mike's, we really don't ever need to leave. Here, Liz and Avery (and Bella and Jack) were riding "the tractor" down to get something from the garden. |
| Running + Bella = one happy girl. |
| Not every little boy has a cousin who's a real live race car driver. We went to the shop to check up on Clay and his race car. |
| "Hey Clay, what kind of engine you got in there?" |
| Teaching Daddy how to jump off the diving board. |
| Stickers with Nana. |
| Keeping tabs on the puppy. |
| "Aw, man, are we out of Corona?" |
| Mason and the birthday girl. |
| Helping Mommy blow out her candles. |
| Three first-born granddaughters. Trouble! |
